FAQ

I have never done Yoga before. Can I just go to a class as a new student or do I have to take a workshop first?

Our yoga classes are set up so that they can be taken by absolute beginners as well as advanced students. Most people are inflexible and out of shape. Not enough exercise stiffens muscles and joints and many jobs require long hours of sitting.  Yoga helps to alleviate stiffness, creates flexibility and realigns the spine. If you are not flexible, all the more reason to start practicing yoga.

Do I need to make an appointment for my first class?

We encourage everyone to register with us on our website and use the MINDBODY scheduling software. Save paper! You are not required to register but most students do so as it makes things easier. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class.

What should I bring to class?

Bring water to stay hydrated, a yoga mat if you have one and a towel. For your convenience, we rent towels, yoga mats and sell bottled water.

Which class is right for me?

All the classes on the schedule! Most importantly, always listen to your body, and take a rest as needed. Go at your own pace. Try to experience all the classes offered to challenge yourself.

What should I wear in class?

Clothes that are comfortable, fast drying and do not restrict your movement. Please remember to leave your shoes behind when entering the facility.

What is proper studio etiquette?

Please arrive at least five to ten minutes before class. Please stay until the end of class. All cell phones must be off. Firefly is a barefoot studio.

How often should I practice Hot Yoga?

We recommend you practice as often as you can, three or more times a week if your schedule allows it. Yoga complements additional exercise such as running or weight lifting. Continuous yoga practice will help improve your athletic performance.  A lot of people practice yoga every day and make it a part of their life.

What about eating or drinking before class?

It is a good idea to come to class hydrated and drink plenty of water after yoga class.  Try not to eat a full meal at least three hours before class.

What if I have pain or a previous injury?

It is always appropriate to talk to the instructor about any existing physical conditions and concerns you have about them.  Yoga benefits many people with chronic pain by helping the body regain its balance between strength and flexibility, movement and awareness.
