New to Yoga

Firefly Yoga provides classes to accommodate every level of Yoga practice.  If you are new to yoga we highly recommend taking one of our Firefly YogaFundamentals Classes or speaking with one of our staff members to help you choose a class that is right for you.  If you feel you need some extra attention due to an injury or other circumstances, Firefly Yoga also offers private sessions.  Private yoga sessions are useful for addressing special concerns and physical issues you may have or for making you feel at ease walking into a public class.

Firefly Yoga Fundamentals

Build a strong foundation for a life long, successful practice in this introductory session.  Designed to accommodate students of all fitness levels, people with existing injuries, people who have taken a few yoga classes and people who have never set foot on a yoga mat   At the end of the Firefly Yoga Fundamentals Class you’ll have a clear understanding of what to expect when you go to class and how to choose the right class (our Yoga Advisors are always available to help you choose a class, whether you are a first time guest or a long time member).

What to Wear and Bring

Wear comfortable workout clothing. You will be barefoot. It’s a good idea to bring a change of clothes. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, a towel and water. Firefly Yoga has high quality mats that you can rent for a small fee if you don’t own one.

Yoga Studio Etiquette

Shoes are removed at the entrance area of the studio. Please turn off your cell phone before entering the studio. Refrain from wearing perfume. If possible, shower before class.

Helpful Hints

Let the instructor know if you have any injuries or if you are pregnant – they can work with you to offer appropriate alternatives to the postures. Practice Yoga on an empty stomach. It is best to wait 3 hours after eating to practice yoga. Make sure you are hydrated well before class.

Remember, Yoga is non-competitive – rest when you need to and work within your body’s abilities.
